About
Anjeer — whole figs dried in the sun, with no added sugar or sulphur. They are soft and naturally sweet, with a chewy skin and a crunch of tiny seeds inside. Each batch is hand-sorted and packed at source, in Classic and Jumbo grades.
Eat two or three as they are, or soak them overnight in water and eat them in the morning. Chopped, they go into milk, porridge, smoothies and desserts.
A fine white dust on the skin is the fig's own sugar coming to the surface as it dries. It is not mould.
Keep them airtight, cool and dry, and in the fridge in warm weather.
Airtight, cool and dry. Refrigerate in warm weather.

Buying guide
What sets a dry fruit apart is the variety and how it was dried, not the brand on the bag. Here is what to look for.
Boat-shaped kernels with high natural oil — richer and sweeter than commercial almonds.
Flat, uniform and cheaper. Bred for orchard yield rather than oil and flavour.
From fresh, well-dried nuts: pale gold, sweet and mild.
Older or over-dried nuts. Safe to eat but more bitter, and they turn rancid sooner.
Dried whole without sulphur, so they darken naturally and carry their own sugar bloom.
Questions, answered
Soaking two or three figs overnight in water softens them and makes them easier to digest. Drink the water too.
Airtight, in a cool place. In hot, humid weather keep them in the fridge.
That is the fig's own sugar crystallising on the skin as it dries — a sign they have not been coated or treated.
